June-July Updates

June 11: Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society (MHAS) and our team members from Seberang Perai Hospital set up a booth at Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) family day event from 7 am to 12 noon at Kompleks Sukan & Rekreasi Sony Seberang Jaya. These are ongoing efforts to promote Penang Island as an Age-Friendly City. To know more, please click here.

June 22: Our member and a strong advocate for MHAS, Prof. Dr. Vickneswaran Mathaneswaran, is a Malaysian neurosurgeon and one of the top globally. Besides being an integral part of the Universiti Malaya Neurosurgery team, he is also an inventor of many groundbreaking innovations.

June 23: Our past President Dr Wong Teck Wee and a long-time supporter of MHAS Dr Sivaneswaran Poobalasingam, along with experts within the country, will share their knowledge from TIMA Healthcare Beyond Medicine Conference. June 24: Dr Wong Teck Wee, a prominent speaker, is once again in the limelight sharing Chiropractic- Principles, and Mechanism of Chiropractic Practice on the DOCQUITY platform. To know more, click here: https://rb.gy/w8lkv

July 1: On 9 July (Sunday) at 10.30 am, Dr. Wong once again shared his insights on “Falls Is Dangerous & Preventable”. He constantly advocates strategies to enhance safety and reduce the risk of falls, particularly among older adults. Learn about home modifications, exercise routines, and lifestyle adjustments that can promote balance and strength. To gain practical knowledge and improve the well-being of your loved ones.

July 4: Our neighboring strong supporter and advocate for healthy ageing Dr Vaikunthan Rajaratnam a Hand and Reconstructive Surgeon from Singapore Khoo Teck Puta Hospital along with Dr Wong Teck Wee, once again shared their knowledge/experience via the DOCQUITY Platform on managing hand injuries in the community – practical tips and patient-centered approach. July 5: MHAS supports the guidelines for preventing influenza in older persons, to know more, click here.

July 9: MHAS, through support from ABBOTT, provided free blood glucose testing and consultation for 305 people who came forward for the blood glucose testing, and 130 people had the strength assessment done at Ensure Strength Run.
