  • MHAS Advisor, Prof Nathan Vytialingam was invited to speak on AWANI on 18th April 2023. His talk was based on the health benefits of increasing the retirement age and how it will positively impact the community as more people will get a chance to interact and stay active in their later years.   • MHAS Project on Age-Friendly City initiative is grateful to the Outgoing MBPP Mayor, who has signed the application that was submitted to the World Health Organization on 28th April 2023. To know more, click here
  • On 29th April 2023, MHAS signed an agreement with HomeGP Asia Sdn Bhd on Multi-Disciplinary Team collaborations that just finished its pilot project over the last year. More updates will be available here
  • On 19th May 2023, Prof Dr Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman, President of MHAS, together with Dr Sangeeta Kaur, Project Manager for Age-Friendly City initiative supported by PWDC met with the incoming Major Datuk A. Rajendran, the new Mayor of Penang Island City Council (MBPP) to brief the progress on the Age-Friendly City Project.
  • MHAS Advisor, Prof Nathan Vytialingam and Dr. Shane Varman both attended the BENGKEL LATIHAN NASIONAL DENGAN TEMA MEMPERLUASKAN PELUANG PENDIDIKAN DAN LATIHAN UNTUK WARGA EMAS: MEMPERKUKUH PENYERTAAN TENAGA KERJA DALAM KONTEKS REVOLUSI PERINDUSTRIAN on 24th and 25th of May.
  • Both MHAS Advisor, Prof Nathan Vytialingam, and Prof Dr Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman, President of MHAS, will attend the International Federation on Ageing’s 16th Global Conference on Ageing, 27 – 30 June 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

MHAS Activities:

  • MHAS has a booth at HARI KELURGA Penang 2023, on 11th June 2023 from 7am to 12 noon at Kompleks Sukan & Rekreasi Sony Seberang Jaya.
  • ABBOTT “Ensure Strength Run 2023” in conjunction with World Sarcopenia Day. The event details are Date: 9th Jul 2023, Venue: Setia Alam City Mall, Time: 7am -10am. Activities: MHAS will be at a booth that will offer Health screening for the participants ie: muscle assessment, glucose test, along with mental health assessment.
  • Some of the MHAS members will be present at the Malaysia Stroke Conference 2023, 27th – 29th July 2023, Zecon Hotel, HPKK UKM Kuala Lumpur
  • Community Event at TTDI Health and Wellness Day: This event will be held on 15th October 2023 at TTDI community hall. 
  • Stakeholders Engagement Process and Penang Age-Friendly City – Nov 2023

2024:

  1. 3rd ASEAN Conference on Healthy Ageing – Penang, Malaysia Dates 30th July to 1st August with a pre-workshop for community run and Community EXPO on 29th July
