Upcoming Events

MHAS Activities:

  •  30th October: MHAS is providing training on Age-Friendly Cities, effective engagement and management of required outputs from stakeholders in Penang (Upon invitation only).

  • 31st October: MHAS will be providing an overview of Age-Friendly Cities to City officials on Age-Friendly City Progress at Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (Penang)

  • 2nd & 3rd December 2023 – MHAS along with PWDC and MBPP are hosting a Stakeholders Engagement Process on Penang Age-Friendly City initiatives with approximately 200 stakeholders in Penang Island. If you are living on the Island and are able to contribute towards community efforts on strengthening community engagement, please write to us and we will send you an invite.

  • 9th December: MHAS will be presenting a talk on “Healthy Ageing: Are you prepared?” to our supporters on the East Coast. If you are in Sabah, Kota Kinabalu do join us.

What Have You Missed - September to October 2023:

September 8: MHAS council member Dr Wong Teck Wee gave a talk on “Healthy Ageing: Your Choice and Environmental Impact” for World Alzheimers Month. Learn more

On September 17th: Dr Dhashani Sivaratnam, Madame Olivia Quah – Co Founder & Executive Director from Elder met with Dr. Sangeeta Kaur to discuss how we can collaborate on the upcoming conference and the innovations available for older people in need.

On September 29th: Professor Dr. Shahrul Bahyah and Professor Nathan Vytialingam were live on BFM sharing their expertise on the well-being of the ageing population. Listen to the full podcast at: click here

7th October 2023: Prof. Dr Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman chaired Abbott’s Total Nutrition Solution Symposium 6.0

On October 11th: MHAS Team members from the 3rd ASEAN Conference meet with YB Menteri, Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK), to know more click here

15th October 2023: MHAS with its corporate members (Abbott and Sanofi ), collaborated with TTDI Community ( Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk TTDI and TTDI Residents Association) for the ‘TTDI Health and Wellness Day’ by providing muscle strength, balance and mental health screening. MHAS delivered 2 health talks on the importance of muscle strength and vaccinations among older persons at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail Community Hall, Kuala Lumpur. This event attracted over 400 community members

On 21st October: Members of the MHAS council and President Professor Dr. Shahrul Bahyah attended the “Golden Years” seminar organized by the Third Age Media Association officiated by YBrs. Dr Wan Nur Ibtizam binti Wan Ismail on behalf of Nancy Shukri, our Minister for Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat KPWKM. The conference’s central theme and focus was older women’s place in our evolving society and their significant but underappreciated contributions. Professor Dr. Shahrul also offered her professional insight on the roles that older women play in society as well as their health and well-being.
